Bachelor of Science Degree in IT at Hanoi National University, 1998.
Master’s degree in computer science at Cambridge University, UK in 2000.
Doctorate in computer science at Arizona State University, USA, 2008.
With more than 25 years working in IT, being an expert in artificial intelligence and big data processing, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung has many researches and projects on big data analysis, gene research in the United States.
In 2008, he was voted as one of the top 10 national IT representatives, the Golden Globe Award and the creative youth medal of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee.
From 2009-2014, he was General Director of Petroleum Information Technology Telecom and Automation Joint Stock Company, Petrovietnam. During his time in the oil and gas industry, he presided over and managed many IT and automation projects for key oil and gas projects such as Nhon Trach 2 power plant, Vung Ang 1 power plant, Dung Quat oil refinery… as well as leading the research project to develop thin-film solar cell technology in atmospheric pressure environment (APP-CVD technology). He also proposed and directly directed the development of IT development strategy for Petrovietnam.
Since 2014, he has been working at the Ministry of Finance as Deputy Director of the Department of Financial Informatics and Statistics. There, he was in charge of the development of a decree on electronic transactions in financial activities (Decree 156/2016 and Decree 165/2018) as well as being a member of the drafting committee of other governmental decrees such as Decree on digital certificates and digital signature authentication services, Decree on business conditions of information security products and Decree on electronic identification and authentication for e-government development.
Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung also directs and presides over the e-government architecture of the Finance sector as well as presides the action plan of the Ministry of Finance to implement Resolution 17 of the Prime Minister on development of e-government. He is the CSO of the Ministry of Finance, member of the Public Finance Reform Committee, member of Scientific Council of Finance and member of the Prime Minister’s working group on e-government.
